Alzheimer’s care and dementia care are complicated. But, thanks to specialized training and experience, our care providers are experts in keeping individuals living with it safe and comfortable — while treating them with the respect they deserve. Our dementia care program spans all of our care services, which include skilled home health services, personal care and support services, and hospice care.

Alzheimer's and Dementia Program

What is Dementia? Is It Different from Alzheimer’s Disease?

Dementia is the general term used to refer to the impaired ability to remember, think, or make decisions that interfere with everyday activities. It is not a disease in itself, and does not refer to cognitive impairment alone.

Alzheimer's disease is the most common type of dementia, and involves the parts of the brain that control thought, memory, and language. It is a progressive disease that begins with mild memory loss and can progress to loss of speech and environmental response.

Healthcare professionals

Certified and Educated to Provide Tailored, Supportive Care

Our care is tailored to each stage of brain change according to the GEMS® dementia classification model so we can meet your loved one where they are on their cognitive pathway. From there, we adjust activities and interactions based on their current abilities, as well as the challenges they’re facing.

Additionally, our healthcare professionals are offered professional development in Teepa Snow’s Positive Approach to Care program, which provides a compassionate framework on which to build a meaningful daily environment for dementia patients.
