What is Respite Care?

Respite Care in San Mateo, CA

Respite care provides breaks from the daily routine of care giving. It can relieve stress, restore energy and promote the necessary balance in your life.

At Interim HealthCare of San Mateo, we understand that family caregivers take pride in the care they provide to their loved ones, but the physical, mental and emotional demands can be overwhelming at times. Care giving is an extremely difficult job and no one is equipped to do it alone. Getting help is essential for your health and maintaining your resilience is critical for your loved one.

Whether it’s for a few hours or that well deserved vacation away, you can count on us to provide the support you need.

We will often arrange for a free in-home evaluation to discuss the type and length of respite care needed, and a plan of service will be developed. Our Care Professionals can stay with your loved one for a few hours, a day, a week, or longer as needed providing the following types of services:

  • Personal Care (bathing, grooming, dressing)
  • Light housekeeping (laundry, dishes, fresh linens)
  • Meal Preparation
  • Shopping
  • Errands outside the house (prescription pickup, dry cleaning)
  • Transportation and companionship to/from appointments
  • And much more

Respite Brings Peace of Mind

All our Care Professionals are carefully interviewed, screened, and background checked prior to employment. In addition to providing training and supervision, we ensure each Care Professional is thoughtfully matched with each client. This provides the comfort and peace of mind you need as you take a break from daily responsibilities.

I want to express my appreciation and gratitude for your help with my Mom. She has grown very close to a couple of your care givers. Everyone is prompt and considerate of her needs. It’s comforting to know I have people who I can count on.
