As we age, the thirst mechanism in our bodies can break down. So even though we may not feel thirsty, we might not be getting enough fluids to replace what we lose naturally on a daily basis.  You may remember that that the human body is over 90% water. We need a large concentration of fluids in our bodies for it to function properly. If we consume water on a daily basis, not just when we are thirsty, we are more likely to remain healthier for a longer period of time.

Take a look at this video from the National Institutes of Health. You might realize that by simply drinking enough fluids, you can begin to feel better immediately. Of Course, you should always listen to your doctor on this issue, particularly if you have issues with your kidneys as you may need to follow some limitations set by your health care professionals.

At Interim HealthCare of Berkshire MA, we want to ensure that you are as healthy as can be. If you have any questions about your health or need home care services, please call us.
