Our owners, Ankur and Shweta Kapoor, decided to join the Interim Family after caring for Ankur's mother for many years, thier story is compelling:

"Years ago, I lived in Texas. Life was good until the day we learned about my mother's cancer. Every summer my parents, who live in India, would stay with us.  Friends and family who live in the States always came for a visit when my parents were in town. One such friend is a doctor who, at the time, practiced at Baylor Medical Center in Dallas. He noticed swelling in my mother's neck. She said it didn't hurt and kept insisting that it was from a mosquito bite.

Our doctor friend was concerned that it was more than just a mosquito bite and advised us to have a biopsy done. We immediately took her to Baylor. We were all heart broken when she was diagnosed with a strain of Non-Hodgkin’s Lymphoma (a type of cancer that is rare in the U.S. but is prevalent in Southeast Asia).

I insisted that treatment should start immediately, they insisted that it should be done at home in India. I reluctantly agreed, and they left for India, two days later I also relocated to support her. It was a difficult decision, after all I had to give up a good job and the life I had started building in Texas, but my mother needed me.

I moved to India and cared for Mom as she underwent cycles of Chemotherapy and other treatment. During that time, I realized that I enjoyed caring for her. I saw that doing things around the home and being around her made a big difference for her.  She was able to relax and rest, which is exactly what she needed. After 5 years, we received great news, her doctors declared her cancer free. The process of helping her heal was very satisfying to me once I knew she was ok, I decided to move back to the U.S."

For Ankur and Shweta being a part of Interim HealthCare is a "Purpose" before a business. The purpose is to assist children who are torn between assisting aging parents/grandparents while taking care of their own children and lives be it in south florida or anywhere else in the world. They want to be considered as the bonus children of the familes that they serve. We understand from personal experience that it is not easy for children or grandchildren to relocate to South Florida to assist aging parents and grandparents.

Ankur has a Bachelors in Computer Engineering from University of Texas at El Paso in Texas, A Masters in Telecommunications from Southern Methodist University in Dallas, TX and an MBA in Finance and Strategy from the University of Texas at Austin in Texas.
Shweta has a Masters of Science in Health and Nutrition.

Ankur is a board member of SNALA (Skilled Nursing & Assisted Living Alliance) and ESRN (Elder Services Resource Network).

Ankur and Shweta opened Interim HealthCare of Plantation in 2016 and continue their passion of providing home care services to those in need in Broward County. His parents visit every summer.
