Shining Stars - Employee of the Month Spotlight

Interim HealthCare Blogs

Our monthly blog originally called “Wow Wednesday,” was started to shine the spotlight on our amazing caregivers. These caregivers were awarded employee of the month and since this has not posted in a few months I wanted to take the time to share what I have gathered. I feel all our caregivers should be nominated for Employee of the Month; without them we could not continue what we do here at Interim HealthCare of the Capital Region. As previously stated in the “Wow Wednesday” post, we stand by our belief that we have the best care professionals in the area. We wanted to take some time for you to learn a little bit about our Employees of the Month from each office. They need to be recognized for embodying our core values and our Mission Statement which is: To Improve People’s Lives!

How long have you worked for Interim?
I believe I began working at Interim in 2005. At that I time I had been working for Averill Park School District as a Family Nurse Practitioner/Teacher. At the urging of a couple of Interim nurses I finally decided to give Flu clinics a try.

What are some of your favorite things about working for Interim?
I really enjoyed the flu clinics and found that working 2 part-time jobs was not a bad thing. The staff and nurses that I have worked with over the years have always been friendly, helpful and very professional. After 26 years with APSD my position was abolished because of budget cuts. Sharon was always so helpful in keeping me gainfully employed with Flu clinics, assessments and then with MVP and HEDIS reviews. The flexibility is one of the reasons I appreciate working for Interim. My family life has been my number one priority. I have cared for and raised 3 sons and cared for my parents and In-laws through both happy and difficult times.

I am at a wonderful point in my life where I am puppy sitting my Grand puppy Maggie who is a beautiful Bernese Mountain dog and have just been blessed with 2 Grandchildren. Logan who is 7 months old and Olivia who is 1 month old. While my husband, children and family are my priority I do find time to play tennis once a week and have been doing so for several years. I also enjoy skiing in the winter and summer fun by my pool with family and friends. I probably would travel anywhere my family would like to go if we are all together. We have enjoyed several trips to New Orleans while my son was in medical school, trips to California to watch my youngest play college baseball, and our most recent trip was to Snowmass/Aspen Colorado to visit my sister. It was a great family trip with skiing snowmobiling, attending the X Games and just spending quality family time. My secret talent is that I love creating and making gift baskets for any occasion. I enjoy cooking and preparing big family meals more than I enjoy making them. So probably my favorite saying would be "Who’s coming for dinner?”

My name is Mercedes, but people call me Sadie. On top of working with all my wonderful clients, I also go home and raise 7 beautiful children that range from 2 years old all the way to 12 years old. Five beautiful girls and two handsome boys and we also have a handsome little puppy named Niko. One of those beautiful girls happen to be my MIRACLE baby that I absolutely adore, and she is 4. Her name is Maddison and ever since my daughter was born, our favorite thing to do together is, fishing. But if I could travel anywhere in the world, I think it would be Hawaii because it’s so beautiful. If I had to pick one favorite food though, it would have to be chicken parmesan and my favorite saying is “Sometimes you’ve got to fall before you fly.”
