Energize Your Day - Four Healthy Breakfast Foods
Posted: 3/18/2014 12:00 AM by
We’ve all heard the expression “breakfast is the most important meal of the day”. According to nutritionists worldwide, starting your day with a healthy, balanced meal boosts your metabolism, maintains your energy level throughout the day and reduces cravings for those “not so good for us” snacks. Research has shown that breakfast foods that are higher in sugar and carbs will cause you to be hungry for lunch earlier than you would if you eat protein rich foods.
At Interim HealthCare, we know that eating healthy can be a huge factor in improving your quality of life. Below you will find some healthy breakfast choices that can help you to feel better, keep in mind that you should always follow the recommendations of your doctor or nutritionist.
Oatmeal with Almonds
: Oatmeal can lower cholesterol, boost your immune system and stabilize blood sugar, which helps give you consistent energy levels throughout the day. Almonds have many health benefits and experts say they can help you to lose weight.
Bagel with Tomato & Avocado
: A whole wheat bagel topped with tomato and avocado instead of cream cheese or butter is a great tasting, healthy alternative. Avocados are high in proteins and “good” fat, while tomatoes have potent antioxidant properties
Greek Yogurt with Fruit: Strawberries
, blueberries and raspberries have high concentrations of with antioxidants, high in fiber and low in calories; add this to some Greek yogurt which has quite a bit more protein than regular yogurt, for a power packed breakfast.
Vegetable & Egg Scramble
: dice up some of your favorite veggies, saute in olive oil over medium heat, add eggs and scramble. Vegetables can prevent spikes and drops in blood sugar levels, which keeps your appetite under control and your energy levels up. Eggs are packed with protein to help keep you full. Salsa is a really good way to kick up the flavor when you substitute it for cheese or butter.
When you give your body the healthy fuel it needs, you’ll find that you feel better throughout the day. If you need help with meal preparation,
