What is Respite Care?

We help family members take a break from the daily routine of caregiving.

respite care Charleston SC

At Interim HealthCare of Charleston, SC, we understand the physical, mental and emotional difficulties that come with being a family caregiver. Giving so much of yourself can be overwhelming at times, and caregiver burnout is very common. In order to provide the best care possible for your loved one, it is essential to take a break from care from time to time.

Whether it’s for a few hours or that well deserved vacation away, you can count on us to deliver much needed suport to your home. We will be happy to discuss the type and length of respite care needed, and a plan of service will be developed. Our Home Care Professionals can stay with your loved one for a few hours, a day, a week, or longer as needed to provide the following types of services:

  • Personal Care (bathing, grooming, dressing)
  • Light housekeeping (laundry, dishes, fresh linens)
  • Meal Preparation
  • Shopping
  • Errands outside the house (prescription pickup, dry cleaning)
  • Transportation and companionship to/from appointments

At Interim HealthCare of Charleston, every one of our respite care professionals is thoroughly interviewed, screened, and background checked according to the laws of South Carolina before any contact with our clients. In addition to providing training and supervision, we take the time to carefully match every client with a caregiver that meets their expectations and personal preferences, this provides the comfort and peace of mind you need as you take a break from daily responsibilities.

I want to express my appreciation and gratitude for your help with my Mom. She has grown very close to a couple of your care givers. Everyone is prompt and considerate of her needs. It’s comforting to know I have people who I can count on.
