Five symptoms that men should never ignore

Interim HealthCare
The cliche about men not going to the doctor apparently exists for a reason. In 2010 a survey by the federal Agency for Healthcare Research and Quality (AHRQ) found that only 57% of men had visited the doctor in the past year.
Here are five symptoms that men should not ignore:
Waist bigger than hips—Men whose waist measurement is bigger than their hips increase their risk of developing
diabetes
,
heart disease
, stroke, sleep apnea and osteoarthritis.
Unquenchable thirst—If you are always thirsty it can be a sign of diabetes. A simple blood test at the doctor can tell you.
Shortness of breath/persistent cough—Both can be caused by asthma, obesity or heart disease. It can also be a sign of
chronic obstructive pulmonary disease (COPD)
.
Pain while urinating—This signals an enlarged prostate or potentially prostate cancer.
Depression
/thoughts of suicide—Depression is a serious medical condition just like diabetes or heart disease. Signs include a significant change in mood, suddenly seeing family or friends one last time or getting affairs in order.
At Interim HealthCare, we strive to assist both men and women live fuller, healthier lives. We encourage both men and women to seek regular medical advice.
