Aging at Home in Sonoma County

The state of California has the largest elderly population in America. And Sonoma County alone has over 100,000 residents older than 65 years old. There is a large population of elderly ones who are heavily reliant on assisted living care and can benefit from personalized care and support from a trained healthcare worker.

Americans are raised to leave the house as soon as they come of age. This often results in parents living alone until they eventually pass. As parents age they become less capable of caring for themselves, especially if there isn't adequate support in the home to help them carry out daily tasks. As a parent ages, the children's widley popular choice is to place their loved ones in elderly homes, which inevitably removes them from the comfort of a place they have been living for years.

With children living apart from their parents, and some children even living in other states, it becomes imperative that parents receive the loving care they deserve. With Interim HealthCare, we provide not only loving care and support for your elderly loved ones, we also strive to make sure your parents stay in the comfort of their homes as they age. This allows you peace of mind and your parents a more stress-free lifestyle in their older age.

“Age On Purpose. Be intentional in your journey.
You define aging. Don't allow aging to define you.
It renders helplessness.” ― Macie P. Smith

Our Personal Care and Support

That’s why Interim HealthCare offers personalized Senior Care and Support Services in Santa Rosa, Sebastopol, Rohnert Park, Petaluma, Healdsburg and throughout Sonoma County. This allows seniors to stay in their own homes with the independence and dignity that they deserve.

This is why Senior Care and Support Services is a great solution for those aging parents who prefer to continue living in their own home is to bring in the services of a caregiver in the form of in-home care.

Also referred to as “aging in place”, allowing seniors to remain in their own homes gives them the ability to maintain control over their environment as well. And, while they may need help with it, being able to remodel, repaint, rearrange furniture, redecorate, and even adjust their own thermostat are things that might not be possible in other living situations.

Interim HealthCare is a leading provider of in-home senior care in Sonoma County, and our customized services are designed to meet the specific needs of your loved ones. With our assistance, we help your loved ones with everyday tasks which lets allow them to continue living at home where they are most comfortable.

Additionally, being able to age in their own home provides elderly parents with the comfort that comes with familiar surroundings and belongings. It also fosters a sense of connectedness and security, all of which are essential for the emotional and mental well-being of aging parents.

We believe that in-home care is more than just helping someone else - it’s a life-giving service that comes from the heart.

Our Work With Dementia Patients

Dementia is an increasingly common yet widely misunderstood condition that affects millions of Americans, including a large number of seniors. With women like Teepa Snow helping us understand this condition, we are further improving our efforts to provide the support elderly ones need when living a life with dementia.

Essentially, dementia is a general term for a group of symptoms that can include loss of memory, language, problem-solving and other thinking abilities severely enough to interfere with daily living.

Although dementia can arise from a number of causes, Alzheimer's disease is the most common type of dementia. According to the National Institute on Aging, symptoms first appear in their mid-60s in most people with Alzheimer’s. While estimates vary, experts suggest that more than 5.5 million Americans, most of them age 65 or older, may have dementia caused by Alzheimer’s.

When symptoms such as forgetfulness or thinking problems develop before age 60, it is classified as early onset Alzheimer's disease. Interim HealthCare has extensive experience in helping individuals and their families live with Alzheimer's disease and other types of dementia. When your loved ones need help in Santa Rosa, or throughout Sonoma County, you can count on us.

“I gave three years of my life to take care of my dying mother who had Alzheimer's disease.
Being there for her every need for three years might have looked
codependent but it wasn't because it was what I wanted to do.”
  - Melody Beattie

Interim HealthCare's in-home Alzheimer’s and dementia care provides a wide range of services in the home, rather than in a hospital or care facility. This can allow loved ones with Alzheimer's or other dementia to stay in their own home.

In order to provide the most supportive and best environment possible for your loved ones, Interim HealthCare staff, bother caregivers and clinicians, are certified in the Teepa Snow Positive Approach® to Care philosophy so they can leverage specialized training techniques in order to implement the complex care that’s needed for loved ones suffering from dementia.

Our Work with Respite Care

In many situations throughout Sonoma County, family members - often adult children - serve as the caregivers for their aging parents. Circumstances have allowed them to live close enough to render the ongoing help and assistance these older adults now need to continue living at home.

However, caregiving for family members can be stressful and demanding depending on the extent of care they provide and how much time it requires of them. It’s also quite typical for family caregivers to make many personal sacrifices and deprive themselves of time away. Unfortunately, this can result out of guilt or a sense of duty. And the results can be unhealthy for the caregiver and the one they are caring for.

Fortunately, family member caregivers in Sonoma County can benefit from our respite care services. We offer respite care for as little as a few hours here and there, to multiple days. One of the critical elements of a successful caregiving strategy for families is the use of respite care services.

Respite care provides breaks from the daily routine of caregiving. It can relieve stress, restore energy, and promote the necessary balance in your life. Respite care can provide temporary relief from serving as a primary caregiver, enabling you to take a much-needed break from the demands of caregiving for an aging, ill, or disabled family member.

Whether it’s for a few hours or that well deserved vacation away, residents and families in Petaluma, Santa Rosa, Guerneville and throughout Sonoma County can count on Interim HealthCare to provide the support that you need.

Our Professional HealthCare Staff

With such a large elderly population, Sonoma County has numerous hospitals, medical facilities, and clinics, as well as close to 20 independent living communities and dozens of assisted living facilities. Along with medical groups and various doctor’s offices, the need for medical staffing is pressing and growing.

No patient wants to be treated by less-than-qualified medical staff. And no responsible medical facility would knowingly hire an unqualified medical employee. But the burden of recruiting, screening, and hiring qualified staff for hospitals, clinics, and other medical facilities falls on practice managers or hospital HR professionals that are often overworked and understaffed.

The healthcare job market has become more competitive. Filling staffing gaps and vacancies in midst of the coronavirus as well as other issues means a reliable healthcare staffing agency is essential. And that’s where Interim HealthCare of Santa Rosa, CA comes in.

While physicians provide the high-skilled medical treatment necessary in these settings, the nursing staff is often the backbone of any medical facility. Consequently, it is critical to consistently meet the staffing needs for nurses and other health care professionals.

From extended blocked contract positions to per diem shifts, Interim HealthCare employs nurses and other health care professionals with a variety of different skill sets. So, whether you need a nurse to fill the gap in a high specialty unit within a hospital, physician office, school nursing, long term care facility, or clinic, Interim HealthCare provides the staff you need throughout Sonoma County.

We can also provide direct hire and temporary staffing services to help streamline impacted vetting and hiring processes, while providing “low-risk - high-quality” employee selection with a 13 week “try before you hire” program.

Interim HealthCare’s staffing services also guarantees that all candidates are screened and properly credentialed and are also covered by our professional liability and workers compensation insurance. In addition, we assume all responsibility for employer taxes and benefits for each staffing professional.

“When a person decides to become a nurse, they make the most important decision of their lives.
They choose to dedicate themselves to the care of others.”
— Margaret Harvey

Interim HealthCare of Santa Rosa is proud to serve the families and medical professionals throughout Sonoma County.

We are committed to providing the best quality of care in Sonoma County with integrity and compassion.
