Hospice Volunteers

Interim Hospice has a dynamic volunteer program guided by compassionate and caring members who assist in enhancing the quality of life for patients and their loved ones. Volunteers can work directly with patients and their families in homes, hospitals, nursing homes or assisted living facilities.  Volunteers provide companionship for patients or run errands, provide respite care and bereavement support for families.  Professional volunteers may provide massage, pet therapy, or other services.  Volunteers can also support hospice staff by working in the office.

Volunteer Opportunities Include:

  • Visiting and companionship
  • Reading and taking walks
  • Writing letters
  • Bringing in music
  • Vigil sitting
  • Respite relief
  • Shopping and errands
  • Meal preparation
  • Light housekeeping
  • Helping wtih memorial services
  • Assisting in support groups
  • Sending cards or calling bereaved family members
