About Us
What’s Happening
Hot summer weather can be more than uncomfortable for older adults—it can be dangerous. Seniors are at a higher risk for dehydration, heat exhaustion, and heat stroke because the body becomes less efficient at regulating temperature with age, and certain medications or health conditions can increase that risk.
The good news is that a few simple steps can go a long way in keeping seniors safe and comfortable all summer long.
Stay hydrated
Encourage regular water intake throughout the day, even when they don’t feel thirsty. Dehydration can happen quickly and may show up as fatigue, dizziness, or confusion.
Keep indoor spaces cool
Air conditioning is the safest way to beat the heat. If that’s not available, fans, shaded areas, or public cooling centers like libraries can provide relief during peak heat hours.
Dress and plan for the weather
Lightweight, loose clothing helps the body stay cool. Outdoor activities are best scheduled in the early morning or evening when temperatures are lower.
Watch for warning signs
Be alert for symptoms like weakness, headache, nausea, dizziness, or confusion. These may signal heat-related illness and should be addressed right away.
Care makes the difference
Regular check-ins from family or caregivers can help ensure seniors are staying hydrated, cool, and safe during extreme temperatures.
At Interim HealthCare, we believe summer should be enjoyed—not endured. With a little extra attention and planning, seniors can stay healthy, comfortable, and safe all season long.
My main area of expertise includes: daily project/operations management; mentoring/coaching all levels of staff; leadership development; recruiting and retention of staff; business relationships with current and new customers; sales; overseeing and managing large scale teams and contract negotiations.
I am currently married to my wife Breanne and have 3 daughters. We all enjoy a variety of sports and outdoor activities throughout the year, including spending our summer weekends at my father-in-laws’ lake cabin and live by the motto: Work hard and Play Harder
