What Our Community is Saying
I retired and had everything I could have wanted, but something felt missing from my life, and this is when I thought, I should volunteer. I found Interim hospice and thought it looked like such a good fit. Doing this has brought me so much joy! People often think when I say hospice that it is sad. It isn’t like that at all! Hospice volunteering is a great experience.
Thank you for your contribution that you made in caring for our Mom at her bedside and your tireless efforts to improve her life. All of your team became so important to her during this time. Our family is so thankful that people like you are filling the world with love and giving people comfort in their transition to their heavenly home.

Bob's "Joy of Life" Experience

Bob's "Joy of Life" Experience
Bob loves trains and his history with the current train started over 20 years ago. In the 80’s there was an old steam engine left in Carson Park rusting away. Bob wanted to save the train; he worked with his father and members of the train club and got it fully running again and back onto the tracks.
Bob was a conductor for a while, but his favorite thing to do was punch tickets. He loved seeing the children excited to ride the train; he also enjoyed all the people he got to know and talk to while handling the tickets. He did this for many years until his health became a barrier.
Our Hospice team heard about this and arranged for Bob to spend a day at the park, including a ride on the train. Bob's family and friends were also there to see Bob having fun and reliving all those happy memories of when he was a conductor as well as making new ones. He said it was the best surprise ever! Bob's sister said " It was wonderful to see Bob doing what he loved again and I know the enjoyment of this day and the memory of it is something he will hold onto".

Lee's "Joy of Life" Experience
Lee grew up on a farm, and as a science teacher and avid gardener, he planted many trees on his land! He moved into assisted living because of his declining health, but always wanted to get back to planting trees. In previous years, he planted a pair of plum trees, but one didn't survive a particularly harsh WI winter and the remaining one couldn't bear fruit without a partner. Our amazing Hospice team found out that Lee's kids would be with him for father's day and wanted to give him a "Joy of Life" experience. In collaboration with Lee's wife and family, our volunteer coordinator, Eve, researched the type of plum tree that needed to be planted and arranged for a fun day at the farm for Lee and his family to plant the second tree. In the aftermath of this wonderful experience, Lee told everyone how he wanted to plant more trees, and everyone noticed that he became much more talkative and was clearly very happy with his days work.
Here at Interim HealthCare, hospice truly is all about living and it is our desire to ensure all our patients and their family experience our philosophy.

Meet our Hospice Medical Director!
Dr. Andrew J. Offerle, MD
Dr. Andrew J. Offerle, MD
Dr. Offerle, graduating with honors from Indiana University School of Medicine in 2002, has accrued over 20 years of experience as a practicing physician, predominantly specializing in Emergency Medicine. Despite his primary focus, his inaugural research project during medical school centered on hospice care, aiming to enhance support for numerous families within the healthcare system. His personal journey caring for his mother, who battled end-stage Alzheimer’s while under hospice care, reignited his dedication to this crucial aspect of patient support. Dr. Offerle's blend of professional expertise and personal empathy uniquely qualifies him to connect deeply with each member of the hospice team, patients, and families alike.
Our mission, under Dr. Offerle's stewardship, is to prioritize the comfort, well-being, and individual needs of every patient, ensuring their journey is filled with unwavering support and dignity. Through our steadfast dedication, we endeavor to empower patients and their families, honoring their distinct narratives and fostering meaningful moments amidst life's most unforeseen and challenging transitions.
