Interim HealthCare is proud to be the exclusive provider of Rekovo’s innovative Agile Art software during their occupational and physical therapy at home.
Invented at The Ohio State University Wexner Medical Center by Research Assistant Professor and Associate Director of the Motion Analysis and Recovery Laboratory, Lise Worthen-Chaudhari, Agile Art helps clients in rehab increase their range of motion and do exercises longer while creating abstract artworks. The artwork is created using motion sensors that are strapped to a client’s head, chest or limbs. Movement of the body, measured by the motion sensor, is transformed into graphic art on a computer screen using a custom software application. Movement is detected in three dimensions and plotted in two dimensions on the computer screen as an abstract painting.
Clients also can use the motion software to unveil a sentimental or personal photo hidden behind a black, white or gray screen, further incentivizing clients to make movements they may otherwise find challenging.
While clients are creating their artwork or working toward unveiling a photo, the therapist is monitoring their movement and progress. At the end of the session any artwork created can be printed or electronically shared, giving clients something that embodies all their hard work.
“Many times, when clients are in rehab they are hesitant about moving certain muscles out of fear,” said Alex Purtell, the head of growth and marketing for Rekovo. “Agile Art distracts and engages clients, eliminating these concerns.”
