When you choose in-home care for your healthcare needs, the first visit will be different from the rest. The first visit will essentially be for evaluation and education. The company will send someone to assess your situation and see if in-home care can fulfill your needs. A professional or paraprofessional will evaluate:

  • Family help availability
  • Your ability to carry out daily tasks
  • Condition of your home and presence of safety measures
  • Medical supplies available
  • Resources available
  • Medical needs
  • Medication management

At this time, you will also be provided with resources and information on your condition and treatment. Based on the evaluation, a plan is developed by you, your family, and all involved medical staff. Each visit thereafter will include an assessment to see how well the plan is working.

RNs or LPNs will provide in-home health care. This can include: taking samples for lab tests, changing wound dressing, and administering medications. Some specially trained nurses can administer medications through intravenous lines or injections.

Management staff can provide other services, as needed. They can help with meal preparation, medicine reminders, bathing, laundry, cleaning, and more. Healthcare providers and management staff may come at different times and perform different duties each time. With each visit, you can and should expect quality care, respect and professionalism from all involved with your in-home care.
