College Names Medical Learning Center in the Priddys’ Honor

Michael Priddy, Interim Owner and Montgomery College Trustee Establishes the Michael and Shannon Priddy Health Sciences FundMichael D. Priddy, a member of the Montgomery College Board of Trustees, and his wife Shannon, have pledged $60,000 over six years to support health science programs and scholarships for credit and noncredit students. For the first year, the funds will be used to award scholarships for students in the certified nursing assistant (CNA) program. To date, four students have received scholarships for the fall 2015 semester.
In addition to serving as a trustee, Mr. Priddy is the owner of Interim HealthCare of Montgomery County, Maryland. He and his wife, Shannon, have been committed to volunteering for and supporting K-12 and higher educational institutions in the Greater Washington region, particularly in the areas of science, technology, engineering, and math (STEM) and health care.
Mr. Priddy served on the board of the Bethesda chapter of the Armed Forces Communications and Electronics Association (AFCEA) as vice president of education. Since 2008, AFCEA Bethesda has committed $460,000 for Montgomery College’s STEM programs and scholarships, with additional support for the University of Maryland, the Universities of Shady Grove, Montgomery County Public Schools, and Bullis School.
“Shannon and I believe in the transformational power of education and that an educated workforce is critical to the economic strength of our community,” said Michael Priddy. “We are excited to celebrate the launch of our new business, Interim HealthCare of Montgomery County, MD, by making this gift to Montgomery College’s exceptional health science program. MC is a leader in training nurses, CNAs, and other health care professionals for our region.”
To recognize the Priddys’ generous support and committed leadership, Montgomery College named a key academic center in their honor. The Michael and Shannon Priddy Medical Learning Center is located in the College’s Health Science building on the Takoma Park/Silver Spring Campus. The resource facility provides access to computers, medical models, electronic media, and books; it also serves as a testing center. The center recorded over 10,000 student visits last year.
