A word from the owner, Amy Paffumi:

"My name is Amy Paffumi, mother of five children ages 8 to 13 years old. I'm a Scottsboro, Alabama native. I attended college on a full academic scholarship and served as a class officer in nursing school. I’ve been a Registered Nurse for 14+ years, serving on multiple committees in various areas throughout my career and working hand in hand with my peers to develop strategies and to identify areas of need and change. I have worked in multiple areas of nursing such as labor and delivery, cardiac, orthopedic, pediatric, pediatric seizure observation unit, wound care, personal home care, home health care and hospice. My primary focus has been in hospice and palliative care with the terminally ill. It has been a very humbling, insightful, and fulfilling career. It's hard to say that it is a career, it is more of a passion. It is a 'stop and smell the roses' kind of job, giving me the ability to focus on things that are of actual importance rather than placing importance on things that are menial. As a nurse I'm required to be organized and prioritize patients based on their individual needs. I work directly with the patients, family members, caregivers, interdisciplinary group (physicians, nurse case managers, social workers, hospice aides, chaplains, therapists, and volunteers) to develop a plan of care individualized for each patients specific needs. I am a problem solver and am passionate about collaborating with my co-workers to identify the area of need and come to a resolution. Working with patients and families during this time when hospice is needed has given me a lot of experience in assisting families during a very emotional journey. Allowing me to offer physical and emotional support as well as assist with conflict resolution.
I have always been very involved in church through different programs such as Upward Cheer, AWANA, M&M, children’s church, Sunday school. I love to volunteer at my children’s school".
