Employee Spotlight: Kiley McGiness
When you call the Grand Rapids Personal Care Support office, you’ll be greeted by the voice of the one and only “Smiley” Kiley McGiness, talking you through the phone tree. Her kind demeanor and bank of knowledge are only a few of the things that have made her such an incredible asset to the team for the past 10 years.Leading up to her time at Interim HealthCare, Kiley studied as a nursing student at Grand Valley State University, knowing that she wanted a career in healthcare. However, after a bit of encouragement from her professors, and a few courses in Healthcare Administration, she switched gears and never looked back.
When she first joined the team back in 2014 Kiley hit the ground running; using her background in Healthcare Administration and Social Media management, she has made a massive impact on our census and client experience with our company. Kiley took on not only the role of intake manager but also produced social media content, engaged with many care managers and clinical staff, and monitored client reviews. This past year, our intake team has grown allowing Kiley to delve more into other aspects of management; bringing on another intake coordinator and leading an assessment team of RN’s and CNA’s to maximize the amount of clients they are able to evaluate for care.
What truly sets her apart from the rest, is how much Kiley cares about providing each patient with the full spectrum of care. Even if we cannot take on a specific case, she will point the client toward other avenues of care that they can seek out. She is always making herself available for questions about resources, happy to lend a hand to any of our divisions; making incoming clients, and staff feel heard and understood, and leaving everyone she speaks to with a positive experience.
When she is not caring for her clients, Kiley loves to get outside with her family and her dog, Leeland. Whether they are trying out a new hiking trail or just a walk around the block, spending time outdoors with her loved ones is something she tries to do often.
We are honored to have Kiley as a member of our team, and we’ll continue to look forward to the smiles she brings to the faces of all of us at Interim Healthcare.
Employee Spotlight: Stephanie Ireland
When Stephanie Ireland started working as an LPN, she loved the clinical care aspect of her job; however, she wanted to make a bigger impact at the facility. She didn’t hold a leadership role at the time, so she decided to back to school, get her RN license, and return to that facility as the new director of nursing for 16 years.
The Skilled Home Care office was just 4 years old when Stephanie joined the team as a Clinical Supervisor. Even though she started in a leadership role, Stephanie has always been willing to do whatever it takes to get her patients the care they need. In addition to being a leader to look up to, she continues to provide direct patient care from Muskegon to Holland.
Throughout her time at Interim, Stephanie has amassed a Rolodex of knowledge and years of experience and yet, every day she is learning something new and sharing her knowledge with everyone on her team in her patented no-nonsense way that all of us know and love. She has developed close professional relationships with not only her nursing staff but also with other clinical teams. Since our patients are unable to leave their homes, she saw an opportunity to collaborate with one provider in particular at a mobile wound clinic and they have continued to seamlessly work together on several patients.
When she is not caring for her patients or nursing team, Stephanie is taking care of her two dogs, Abby and Bella, her chickens, and her rooster, Hercules. To further satiate her knack for learning new things, she has tried dog grooming and even sold handmade ceramics in the past. Most recently she has enjoyed crocheting blankets and stuffed toys for her grandkids.
Since her humble beginnings as an LPN at that facility in Bad Axe, Stephanie has grown into a phenomenal nurse. She is approachable, a great educator, provides expert care, and is dedicated to her work. The nurses she supervises and office staff here know too well, that if you have a question the answer is always, “Ask Ireland”.
Employee Spotlight: Kale Deboer
Three years ago, Kale Deboer began her career at Interim HealthCare of West Michigan as a Recruiting Assistant for homecare. Since then she has continued to grow, trying her hand at assessments, traveling to Assisted Living facilities, and impressing in her current role as Medical Staffing’s Scheduling Supervisor.
“Kale has recently taken over our staffing department's scheduling 100%.” says Malory Lake, Staffing Manager “Being the sole scheduler she is showing great communication to all of our facilities and all of our external employees.” With staff in over 100 facilities across Michigan, Kale has been able to maintain a consistent flow of communication between clients and staff, and provide impressive customer service. With the support of Lindsey Mulder and Mallory Lake, her E-mail threads, and text messages, the Medical staffing team thrives off each other’s energy to provide the best possible service to their clients.
Although she was a shy kid in high school, one ting that Kale loves most about her job is the ability to form personal connections; not only with those whom she sees at the office, but also with her clients. From getting to know her co-workers and surprising them on their birthday with a few of their favorite goodies, to facilitating the occasional Jeopardy tournament, Kale makes an effort to keep the office in good spirits.
When she gets downtime, Kale enjoys reading a good book and cuddling up with her two dogs, Shelby and Goose. Her reading list is a mile long, but she is currently working her way through A Court of Mist and Fury, the second installment of a popular fantasy series.
We are incredibly lucky to have such an incredible, hardworking, and personable employee like Kale on the team, and we look forward to many more years together!
Several members of our office staff participated, but one chili trumped them all; Mara Elliot, scheduler for the Skilled Homecare department, and her Kickin' Chicken Chili won by 14 votes.
We are excited to share more of what's happening here at Interim Healthcare of West Michigan as we continue to grow and expand across Michigan.
