Our SureStepsSM Fall Prevention Program

According to the Department of Health and Human Services, more than one third of adults 65 and older fall each year. Of those who fall, 20% to 30% suffer moderate to severe injuries that make it hard to get around or live alone and increase the chance of early death. Additionally, older adults are hospitalized for fall-related injuries five times more often than they are for injuries from other causes.

There are many things seniors and their families can do to reduce fall risks and prevent falls. Our Care Professionals play an important role in further reducing the risk of falls and improving safe, independent living at home.

The SureSteps Program is based on Interim HealthCare's 40 years of experience in looking at many different situations and developing recommendations to enhance living safely and independently at home. It starts with the HomeStyle Services At-Home Assessment. Through the SureStepsSM program, specially trained staff take a comprehensive approach to preventing falls including:

  • A home safety review and recommendations for modifications
  • Comprehensive consumer education
  • Recommendations for family/physician medication review

Older adults can take a number of steps to protect their independence and reduce their risk of falls. The Interim HomeStyle Services SureSteps Program is an important first step.
