Interim HealthCare Creates New Position to Elevate Voices of Patients, Caregivers and Providers at the National Level Barbara McCann Named Chief Industry Officer

Sunrise, Fla. - What happens when national health care reform comes home? Interim HealthCare (www.InterimHealthCare.com) the nation's leading health care franchise company, is acting to address the uncertain, rapidly changing landscape of health care by creating a new C-level executive position dedicated to giving community based home care patients and professionals across the country a greater voice at the national level.

"Patients and their families want to know what health care legislation and reform mean when mom, dad and other loved ones need home care services," said McCann. "Our franchisees want to know that they will be able to effectively meet their patients' needs, and they want to collaborate with other providers to give patients and families the very best care possible. Home care must be factored in as decisions are made. We all need to understand what the end product is going to look like, and what happens when we need to use it."

Barbara McCann, the company's first-ever Chief Industry Officer, brings a unique blend of national industry and front-line community experience to her post.

Kathleen Gilmartin, President and Chief Executive Officer of Interim HealthCare, Inc., explains the need for the new position. "We're looking beyond what Interim HealthCare needs to know and do and considering the entire national landscape," she said. "As a leading national health care franchisor, we're particularly interested in three important issues: ensuring that the continuum of care, including home nursing and therapy, non-medical home care and hospice is available; eliminating the challenges patients and caregivers have accessing community-based care; and understanding the ways in which medical technology benefits patients in all care settings."

Because Interim HealthCare's independent franchisees employ more than 75,000 health care workers who serve 50,000 patients daily in the communities they serve, they offer a unique perspective on home care.
