Newsletter INTERIM HEALTH CARE We have been walking off the pounds and the cholesterol. I mentioned in our last update that we had started a ONE STEP AT A TIME program for our in-office employees here at Interim HealthCare. Three months into the program we did a second health screening on those employees participating in the program. As a group we have lost 50 pounds and lowered our cholesterol a total of 210 points ! How did we do it? commitment !!! We have walked, danced, worked out and watched our diet. Lots of moaning and groaning but we are excited at the results. Three months ago we picked a spot to "walk" to. We chose Key West as our imaginary destination. That is a distance of 1330 miles from Newark, Ohio. We reached our destination the week of October 13th, 2008. This distance was walked in our parking lot, on the bike path, in our neighborhoods, etc. Next stop? Vegas, please ! The leaves are changing colors, the stores are gearing up for Halloween, Thanksgiving and Christmas. To those of us in charge of the annual flu program these are signs that flu season will soon be upon us. For over 10 years we have been offering flu immunizations in our community each fall from Oct. 1 - Dec. 31. Each year the CDC determines which strains of flu will be prevalent and develop a vaccine to protect against the most likely 3 strains. Why is this important? Flu can be deadly - especially to those over 65 or anyone with lung disease or other medical conditions. The easiest way to prevent the spread of flu is mass immunizations to keep the flu from getting a foothold in our community. Interim HealthCare is offering flu shots in their office at 900 Sharon Valley Road, daily from 8AM-5PM Monday through Friday. No appointment necessary and NO WAITING ! This year's cost of a flu shot is $20. We also accept Medicare. For more information call 349-8700. Shots will be available through December but don't wait - get a flu shot.
