Barbara McCann is the Chief Clinical Officer and Integrity and Compliance
Officer for Interim HealthCare, and joined the company in January of 1998. Her
background includes serving as Executive Director at the National Blue
Cross/Blue Shield Association where she was responsible not only for the
accreditation of HMO products nationally and the development of
individual 'report cards" on quality of care measures for HMOs, but also for
implementing the alliance between the American Geriatric Society and Blue
Cross/Blue Shield physicians to provide education and guidelines in the
diagnosis, treatment and wellness programs for geriatric patients in Medicare
HMOs nationwide. Prior to that, Ms. McCann was a Vice President at a provider of
home infusion services in the United States and Europe, where she was primarily
responsible for quality of care oversight of infusion and national home care
network services, voluntary accreditation, the development of disease-specific
protocols for management of patients with chronic diseases at home and in
physician clinics. Ms. McCann was also the Director of the Home Care and Hospice
Accreditation Programs at the Joint Commission on the Accreditation of
HealthCare Organizations. She has received awards for her work in quality
monitoring from the National Hospice Organization, the National Association for
Home Care and a HCFA Director's citation, and is actively involved in government
committees addressing the quality of home care for Medicare recipients. By
training, Ms. McCann is a medical social worker and a Phi Beta Kappa graduate of
the University of California at Berkeley.
