February is National Senior Independence Month. This is a time for senior citizens to evaluate their lifestyles with help from family and friends. This is a sensitive topic, but one that can be addressed respectfully.
At Interim Healthcare, we strive to help seniors keep their independence as much as possible by providing a number of services which will allow them to live happy enriched lives. Rather than being forced to move into assisted living facilities, our clients are able to live active, safe, healthy, enriched lifestyles with help from our home health care providers.
Interim HomeStyle Services focuses on our non-medical senior care. We feature light housekeeping, meal preparation, companionship, medication reminders and transportation services for errands or doctors’ appointments. People using our non-medical home care agency can be comfortable in their own apartment or house, even if they have certain limitations.
For example, seniors who no longer drive can still go to doctor’s appointments, get their hair done or go to club meetings. We provide the transportation. Staying at home in a safe, independent environment can be a pleasant experience, too. As part of HomeStyle Services we can play games, do crafts, help tend to pets and put on a movie. Each person is different, so our services cater to the individual.
For those with limited dexterity or strength, we can assist with simple household chores, like washing dishes, watering plants or vacuuming. We can also help with daily hygiene routines. These are the little things that make living at home possible. We want our clients to have a better quality of life and maintain as much independence as possible.
Illness, surgery and dementia can sometimes make living independently difficult. Interim HealthCare offers certified healthcare professionals that can help seniors maintain their independence and stay home, rather than having to move into an assisted living facility or inconvenience family.
After careful evaluation, Interim can help the patient and their family decide the best course of action.
Working with seniors requires an understanding of the issues they face on an ongoing basis, most importantly it’s that they want to live enriched lives and maintain their independence for as long as possible. During the month of February, take the time to celebrate Senior Independence Month. Think about safety, health and happiness for yourself and your family.
