April Is Stress Awareness Month

April is Stress Awareness Month. This is a good time to consider the things in your life that make you worry or concerned and how stress can be eliminated or reduced. This is especially notable for those who care for loved ones. Interim Healthcare can help alleviate those stresses and can improve the quality of life for you and your family.

Perhaps the first thing to consider is what situations are causing stress in your life. There are 12 million Americans taking care of more than 5 million family and friends at home. Most of these caregivers are women, with a quarter of them caring for older parents as well as their own children.

Home healthcare issues can bring up a myriad of problems and concerns. Interim can be a good partner in home healthcare for you and your family by helping reduce the amount of stress in your life and improving the quality of the time you spend with each other.

Are the needs of your loved ones being met? Whether it is an aging parent living with you or on their own far away, it can create worries that take their toll on your own health. Symptoms of stress may include, but are not limited to, headaches, stomach pain and nausea, anxiety attacks, depression, teeth grinding, back pain, insomnia and forgetfulness.

Questions may nag at you during the day or keep you awake at night. Are your parents safe? Are their needs being met? Are you spending so much time making sure they are getting where they are supposed to go that you don’t have time to interact with them? Are your attentions divided between your parents and children to the point that you are neglecting yourself? This may be causing undue stress, and it may be time to consider some of the home health care services that Interim offers.

Does a family member need help with medication, bathing, grooming, transportation, light cooking or supervision? With more than 300 independent franchise offices nationwide, Interim Healthcare provides both medical and non-medical services in the home.
